About

Name: Lauren

From: Stillwater, Oklahoma, United States

I am a 19 year old high school graduate and am currently living in Bretagne, France as a Rotary Foreign Exchange student. Next semester I plan on attending the University of Oklahoma as a double major in French and Spanish. I have hopes to be an interpreter someday, if not with the United Nations then with some other type of international organization. I follow the Aristotelean philosophy that what one gains in the number of friends one has, one loses in depth, quality, and closeness, therefore I have always preferred to have a few good friends rather than a 'group'. I enjoy good books, good music, and good conversation. Of course if it's good, what's not to like?

It Has Begun
Tuesday, August 23, 2005

It's been almost a week since my last post. I've been so worn out... The first three days of school last week weren't all that bad. I think I'm really going to enjoy my classes. The killer was that stupid Saturday morning rehearsal we had this last weeekend. On top of the first week of school, we had to be at band from 8:00-12:00 on our first weekend of the school year. I really think Mr. Z looses his soul during marching season...

Last week was hectic anyway while the film crew was here. I don't think I've really mentioned it here on this blog, but my parents are going to be in a feature length documentary about Mozart. They're music historians, so that's how they got involved. There's a lot to tell about what went on and everything involved in the film, so if you want to know more, call me or email me.

Okay, I've got to go hop in the shower, so I'll talk to everyone later. So long!

Here I Go Again
Sunday, August 14, 2005

I'm buckling up because my life is about to get three times as hectic in less than a week. School starts Wednesday August 17, marching season has already begun, and I'm going back to work in September. I've survived my third year of band camp, that was going on for the past two weeks, I think our directors mistaked it for boot camp! Ah well, the worst of that is over. On Wednesday, my classes start as follows:

1st Hour: Band - Zamborsky
2nd Hour: AP English III - Segall
3rd Hour: Intro Debate - Larios
4th Hour: Chemistry - McKeever

I'm actually looking forward to this semester. It ought to be fun. I've been wanting to take Chemistry for a while and I've heard wonderful things about Mrs. McKeever. I'm a bit anxious about AP English. I've heard Dr. Segall is tough and it's hard to get an A in her class. Oh well, I'll just have to see.

A Conservative Christian Case for Civil Same-Sex Marriage
Saturday, August 13, 2005

I found an incredible article while looking around on the Drum Corps International forums. Although it is quite lengthy, I would encourage anyone to read it thoroughly. The title is A Conservative Christian Case for Civil Same-Sex Marriage. I was amazed at the depth into which this person delved into the issue of Gay Rights amidst their Conservative Christian values. It was truly touching and enlightening, even to someone who already supports Gay Rights.

I'm a Genius!
Monday, August 8, 2005

Okay, I've discovered an easy was for everybody to see all the pictures I've put on this computer so far without having to put all of them on my blog. If you want to see the pictures, you can visit my Photobucket album on France. Here is the link. That's all I have for now, but I will put more on this computer at a later date.

Hello All
Sunday, August 7, 2005

From word of the grape vine, I've been informed that there are certain readers who are anxious for me to post pictures from France on my blog. I thought that I'd reassure you in tnat I do plan to post TONS of pictures, I just really haven't had the opporunity to sit and edit them all. I will get on the job as soon as possible.

As for the sparsity in my entries as of late, I have to blame band. Marching band camp started last Monday and I have been working my butt off 9am-Noon and then 1pm-4pm. I've barely had the energy to climb the stairs up to the computer at all! (Seriously, my legs were killing me!)

I've been enjoying the weekend very much. A friend of Steph's, Deni, has been staying with us since Wednesday. We've had a lot of fun with her, she's a wonderful storyteller and conversation with her is a blast. For the most part though, I've pretty much just been a bum. I've been resting up for tomorrow morning. ;-)

I think I'm going to go see what I can do about those pitures. Ttyl.
