About

Name: Lauren

From: Stillwater, Oklahoma, United States

I am a 19 year old high school graduate and am currently living in Bretagne, France as a Rotary Foreign Exchange student. Next semester I plan on attending the University of Oklahoma as a double major in French and Spanish. I have hopes to be an interpreter someday, if not with the United Nations then with some other type of international organization. I follow the Aristotelean philosophy that what one gains in the number of friends one has, one loses in depth, quality, and closeness, therefore I have always preferred to have a few good friends rather than a 'group'. I enjoy good books, good music, and good conversation. Of course if it's good, what's not to like?

Meet Me in St. Louis
Wednesday, April 27, 2005

I'm in a bit of a hurry here, so I'll make this short... (sorry!) I'm leaving for St. Louis today with the band. Yay! It's going to be a blast of a trip. I'm sad to say though, I won't be able to post anything until next Sunday. :-( I'll write all about the trip and how it went when I get back. Talk to you all later!

Once Upon a Pit Orchestra
Saturday, April 23, 2005

Aren't we a good looking pit? Although I'm glad the musical is over, mainly for exhaustion's sake, I'll have a lot of good memories from being in the Pit Orchestra of Once Upon a Mattress. It was a good show and we all worked very hard on it. We had a lot of fun in the process too. Mark's yo-yo flying off into the pit, those sonic booms in the PAC, trying to find at stand light that worked properly... *Sigh* Those we're the days...

Ok, I'll step off memory lane for now... Talk to you all later-

Sorry II
Saturday, April 16, 2005

Oh my god, I just got home from our second performance of Once Upon a Mattress. It went SO well! Opening night was good, but tonight was even better. I'm so happy!!! That means it ought to be excellent tomorrow night when my parents come. Yay!

Okay, I know, again I've neglected to post. I swear, I've barely had a moment to spare this past week. Today really was crazy. It was State Festival Competition at Jenks High School in Tulsa. Oh! More good news. We played great at contest! We got straight 1s in the concert portion. In sight-reading we got straight 2s, but that's okay. It was a hard piece and we were too excited about our prepared pieces to care. We played Marche des Parachutistes Belges, Sparkle, and Tam o'Shanter. The last one was better than I think we've ever played it before. Then we came back to SHS (the bus ride was fun), went home, then went back at 7:00 for the musical.

Yawn! I'm sleepy, tomorrow I am going to be a serious lazy bum. I'm not doing anything. That is, until 7:00 when I have to leave for the Musical. The rest of the day, I'm sleeping or resting in some way, shape, or fashion.

Alright, night all!

I'm Sorry!
Friday, April 8, 2005

Okay, I'm really sorry it's been so long since I've posted. I'm too BUSY!!! Once Upon a Mattress has taken over my life... Oh well, my life was already bending to the force that is band, why not add another factor? ;-) Opening night is a week from today! Yay!

I'm off now. I have some English II homework to do. Talk to you all later.
